Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, that it is divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit and inerrant in its original autographs throughout, infallible and God-breathed, that it is the supreme authority over all things and must not be added to, superseded, or changed.

GOD

We believe in one triune God, existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, who possess the same attributes and perfections yet carry out distinct roles.

  • The Father // God the Father is the absolute omnipotent ruler of the universe, sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption; perfect and majestic in holiness, infinite in wisdom and always acts to display and magnify His glory.
  • The Son // Jesus Christ is the divine, eternal, Son of God - he was born to the virgin Mary, took upon Himself the demands and necessities of human nature, completely identifying with mankind, yet without sin as Christ was both fully God and fully man. He literally and vicariously died, taking on the sin of all of those who would believe on himself, was buried and raised from the dead, ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of the Father in heaven.
  • The Holy Spirit // We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, that He convicts the world of sin, that He helps and baptizes all believers into the body of Christ, that He imparts spiritual gifts to believers, and that He guides believers into truth so that as a new creation they may be filled and controlled by the Spirit.

MAN

We believe that man was created by God in His image and likeness—both male and female—in order that man would glorify God in all his thoughts, desires, words, and actions, and find everlasting joy in him. Yet by voluntary transgression, Adam and Eve fell from their sinless, perfect state and therefore all of mankind are sinners, inherently from Adam and individually (by choice), and are therefore subject to God's wrath and just condemnation. Fallen man is completely and utterly helpless to save himself.

Furthermore, we affirm the biblical understandings summarized in the Danvers Statement.

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is by God's grace alone and not by good works man has done or will do. It is received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.  We believe that man must repent of his sins and accept Christ as his Lord and Savior to receive eternal life. When he does this, he is secure in Christ forever, he becomes a child of God; he is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. As a new creation, the believer will grow in sanctification and conformity to Christ, seeking daily to walk in submission and glorify Him.

THE CHURCH

We believe in the universal Church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, which are called upon to gather for the purpose of worshiping God, for receiving instruction for the building up of the saints, and for proclaiming the Gospel to the lost. We believe baptism and communion are holy sacraments.

ETERNITY

We believe in the personal, visible, and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the separation of the unsaved to eternal judgement and punishment. We believe that at the close of this church age the Lord Jesus will descend from heaven to receive His own unto Himself; the dead in Christ shall be raised, and living believers will be changed.
